Medicare Prescription Drug Plans (Part D)
Beginning January 1, 2006, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services offered a new Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage to everyone currently enrolled in Medicare. This coverage may help Medicare recipients lower their prescription drugs cost and help protect against higher costs in the future. Recipients chose a drug plan and pay a monthly premium, which is not affected by health status or number of prescriptions needed. Tax Counseling for the Elderly
The Tax Counseling for the Elderly Program, managed by the U.S. Department of Treasury, provides free tax assistance to people who are 60 or older. IRS-certified volunteers offer free assistance and basic income tax return preparation to qualified people across the nation. The Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP)
The Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program provides low-income seniors with coupons that can be exchanged for nutritious, fresh foods including fruits, vegetables, honey, and herbs at community supported agricultural programs. To qualify, you must be age 60 or older and your household income may not exceed 185% of the U.S. Poverty Guidelines.
