To be eligible for enrollment, land must be private land or Tribal land that will restore, enhance or measurably increase the likelihood of recovery of a threatened or endangered species and must improve biological diversity or increase carbon sequestration.
HFRP applicants must provide proof of ownership, or an operator (tenant) must provide written concurrence from the landowner of tenancy for the period of the HFRP restoration agreement in order to be eligible.
To enroll land through HFRP easements, landowners and operators may apply at any time at the local NRCS Service Center.
