undefined Washington Weatherization Assistance Program?

Weatherization is the application of energy efficiency measures to a home. These include ceiling, wall and floor insulation; closing heat-escaping gaps by caulking, weather stripping, or broken window replacement; and heating system improvements. The measures are done according to established technical specifications, cost-effectiveness tests, and relevant building codes.

The Department of Commerce contracts with a statewide network of 25 local agencies and five tribal organizations that do weatherization and consumer energy conservation education, and it manages four fund sources for the weatherization program.

To be eligible for this benefit program, you must be a resident of Washington. Preference may be given to:

People over 60 years of age
Families with one or more members with a disability
Families with children (in most states)

In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

Under DOE guidelines, you are automatically eligible to receive weatherization assistance if you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).
