The Minnesota Energy Assistance Program (EAP) helps pay home energy costs for low-income households. Services include payment of energy bills, help with energy shutoffs or necessary fuel deliveries, education on efficient and safe use of home energy, advocacy with energy suppliers and human service providers on behalf of consumers, and repair or replacement of homeowners' broken heating systems.

To be eligible for this program, you must be a resident of Minnesota and need financial assistance with home energy costs.

Households that participate in certain other benefit programs, such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP, federally known as TANF), automatically meet the eligibility requirement.

In order to qualify, you must also have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below 60 percent of the State Median Income:
