The State Children's Health Insurance Program, also known as SCHIP, provides health care coverage for uninsured infants, children and teenagers in Oklahoma. Oklahoma and every state in the nation have this program.

Your child is eligible for SCHIP if your family income meets a certain Federal guideline based on a higher income bracket than the traditional Medicaid program.

The State Children's Health Insurance Program, also known as SCHIP, provides health care coverage for uninsured infants, children and teenagers in Oklahoma. Oklahoma and every state in the nation have this program.

To be eligible for this benefit program, you must be a resident of Oklahoma and meet all of the following:

  • Either 18 years of age and under or a primary care giver with a child(ren) 18 years of age and under, and
  • A U.S. Citizen, National, or a Non-Citizen legally admitted into the U.S, and
  • Uninsured (and ineligible for Medicaid).

Uninsured children who meet previous eligibility standards must be enrolled in Medicaid, not SCHIP. The State Children's Health Insurance Program pays for your child's: doctor appointments, prescription medicines, hospital stays, and other health care services.

In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:
