Three Ways to Maximize Your Summer with Benefits.gov

Summer's here, and many Americans look forward to relaxing by the pool, grilling out with friends, and taking time off. As we reach the height of the season, Benefits.gov wants to make sure you are taking advantage of all the resources we have to make your summer more productive. Below, we’ve outlined three ways you can use our resources to maximize your summer:

1. Stay Cool and Save Money with Energy Assistance Benefits
High temperatures often lead to high energy bills. Make sure your house stays cool for an affordable price all summer by checking out a few benefits on our site. The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps low-income households control their cooling energy costs by providing bill payment assistance, energy crisis assistance, energy-related home repairs and more. You can also check out the Weatherization Assistance Program for Low-Income Persons. This program helps low-income families reduce their energy bills by making their homes more energy-efficient.

2. Explore Opportunities in Your Community
During the summer, there are many opportunities to get involved in your community. Start by viewing our ‘Volunteer Opportunities’ category to view a few community service programs. You can also visit www.USA.gov/volunteer for a list of resources to help you find federal organizations with volunteer opportunities or check out the U.S. Department of State’s volunteer site . You may also consider participating in community activities! Recreation.gov is a great resource to help connect you to national parks, plan outdoor trips, and explore activities in your community and across the country.

3. Apply for Grants, Loans, and Scholarships

As fall approaches, many are preparing for the start of the school year. Make sure you’ve looked through our Grants, Scholarships, and Fellowships and Education Loans pages to take advantage of the various scholarship programs, loan programs, or grants you or your organization may be eligible for. You can find more information on general loans, business loans and more on our site, as well.

Aside from the resources listed above, Benefits.gov can help you maximize your summer in many different ways.
