Benefits.gov Celebrates another Year!

In April, Benefits.gov celebrates another year of service to citizens in need. Each year, the Benefits.gov Program introduces new ways to help citizens find benefit and assistance program information quickly and easily- without having to search multiple agency websites. As the official website for government benefits for 13 years, Benefits.gov stands by its mission to provide easy, online access to critical benefit information and to reduce costs to taxpayers and government alike.
In order to fulfill its mission, Benefits.gov provides citizens with innovative tools to help them find benefits. The website's key feature is the Benefit Finder, a tool that asks users questions about themselves to determine which government benefit programs - out of more than 1,200 - they may be eligible to receive. This powerful prescreening technology has been reused for multiple government websites, such as GovLoans.gov, SSA BEST and DisasterAssistance.gov, all of which are maintained by the Benefits.gov Program.

Benefits.gov is also committed to improving user experience on the website. The Program continued its effort to become mobile compatible from various mobile devices, ranging from smartphones to tablets and e-readers, such as the iPad and Kindle. This past year, the Benefits.gov program implemented its responsive design framework on its sister sites, GovLoans.gov and SSA BEST, along with an overall site redesign. Benefits.gov also added 138 new programs and a new benefit category to the site.

Due to all the positive enhancements to the site, the Benefits.gov Program has won three prestigious awards for innovations and intergovernmental collaboration in government in its 13th year. For a complete list of the Program's awards, visit our Recognition page.

Since Benefits.gov began operating in 2002, it has served over 72 million citizens looking for government benefits.
