Looking to get the most out of Benefits.gov?
In December, Benefits.gov released a new Help Center to create an easier way to find answers to common questions about the benefit information on Benefits.gov. As the official benefits website of the U.S. government, Benefits.gov increases access to benefit information and program eligibility requirements to help citizens find government assistance.
The Help Center was designed with you in mind, to provide a more helpful and enjoyable experience as you search for information on Benefits.gov. The Help Center allows you to navigate through commonly asked questions and answers to find the information you need about government benefits. Here’s how to use the Help Center:
Question Categories:
- Click on Select a category
- Select the category that matches your question, such as “Benefit Finder” or “Applying for benefits”
- The next drop-down will include commonly asked questions
- Select the question you would like to learn more about, such as “How do I apply for a benefit?”
- Read through the answer, and select any of the links to guide your next steps
- You can also browse answers to similar questions on the page
Search Feature:
- Click on the field within the magnifying glass on the Help Center page
- Type in keywords, such as “benefit eligibility”, “financial assistance”, or “application” and the Help Center will guide you toward related information
- If you still cannot find what you are looking for, try submitting a Contact Us form and someone will respond to your inquiry in 2-5 business days
Contact Form:
Answers to commonly asked questions can be found in our Help Center. However, if you cannot find the answer to a question, the Contact Form is available as a next step. Reasons to contact Benefits.gov include: If you experience an error while using the site, if you have an issue with the information on the site, if you want to partner with Benefits.gov, or if you need more help after using the Help Center.
