Leap into Spring Planning

Leap into Spring Planning
Leap into Spring Planning

Spring has sprung and the new year is in full swing. You may be successfully checking off items from your list of New Year’s resolutions, or you may even be ready to explore new opportunities. No matter your level of progress, Benefits.gov is here to help! We want to share resources in business, career, and finance that can help you and your loved ones this spring.

Career Resources

If you or a loved one are looking for a new career or you’re interested in sharpening your current skills, CareerOneStop and Apprenticeship.gov are two resources we recommend. Managed by the U.S. Department of Labor, each of these websites provides resources for workers, employers, and those looking to enter or re-enter the job market. Apprenticeship.gov offers an easy-to-use Apprenticeship Finder, where citizens can search for apprenticeship opportunities across the country where they can earn a paycheck and learn in-demand skills at the same time. CareerOneStop offers insight on events, trainings, interview tips, and more for those looking for new career opportunities, along with information on where to find local employment resources.

Small Business Resources

Have an idea to start a business? It’s the perfect time to start working towards your goals! Our Partner, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), has many resources available, including coaching and funding information for women in business, veterans, and all small businesses owners. The 10-Step Guide to starting your business is a great tool for those exploring their entrepreneurial possibilities. You can also search benefits on Benefits.gov, like the Equity Investment - Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) Program or the 7(a) Small Business Loan, and find information on next steps and how to apply.

Financial Tips

After the first few months of the year, it may be a good time to look at your finances to see where you can make improvements to your financial health. Our Partner, the U.S. Department of Treasury, has many tips and resources on budgeting through MyMoney.gov. You can also read our recent news article, Facing your Finances in 2019, for tips and tricks on saving.

We want you to go into this next season excited and refreshed. With over 1,000 government benefit and assistance programs on Benefits.gov, there are many avenues for assistance. You can also discover what benefits you are eligible for by completing our Benefit Finder questionnaire.
