A Message from Gundeep Ahluwalia, Chief Information Officer, U.S. Department of Labor

With another year now behind us, I’d like to take this opportunity to reflect on our journey of helping millions of citizens find government assistance on Benefits.gov. As the official benefits website for the U.S. Government, Benefits.gov provides a single source of Federal benefit information, accessible to all users, regardless of the device.

As Chief Information Officer at the Department of Labor, I witness the daily impact that technology has on American citizens and workers alike. Effective technology improves the way information is delivered and continues to transform how the government operates, allowing us to meet the public’s expectations for online services. As a single benefits portal, featuring resources from 16 Federal Agencies, Benefits.gov provides a solution built to increase the ease with which citizens interact with the government.

In 2018, we launched a complete redesign of Benefits.gov, featuring simplified navigation, improved categorization of benefits and content organization, and a more personalized homepage experience. We made these improvements in direct response to feedback for a more helpful Benefits.gov, and we will continue to enhance our online services to meet the future needs, preferences, and expectations of U.S. citizens.

On behalf of the U.S. Department of Labor, I want to personally thank our 16 Federal Agency Partners, each of whom support the Benefits.gov Program:

This collaborative Partnership has enabled us to help citizens find government assistance for the past 17 years. We would not be where we are today without your collective efforts!

In this edition of the Benefits.gov Compass Newsletter, you will find information on managing your finances, disaster relief, housing and healthcare, Alzheimer’s resources, and apprenticeship. We offer this information from across our Federal Agency Partnership to help you on your path to government benefits.

As always, your feedback is important to us and allows us to continue to make enhancements to our website. We welcome you to share your opinions via our Help Center. Additionally, we encourage you to “Like” us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and subscribe to our channel on YouTube.
