Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month

Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month
Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month

This year, America is celebrating the 31st anniversary of National Hispanic Heritage Month. Between September 15 and October 15, we recognize the generations of Hispanic Americans and their contributions to our society, as well as the group’s heritage and culture.

Benefits.gov honors Hispanic Heritage Month by highlighting government benefit programs that may be helpful to Hispanic Americans and other minority groups alike, including educational, career and business-related programs.

Minority Access to Research Careers

Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) provides special research training support to four-year colleges, universities, and health professional schools with substantial enrollments of minorities. This program aims to increase the number and of underrepresented minorities engaged in biomedical research by increasing the research training opportunities for students and teachers. For more information, visit the Minority Access to Research Careers Program.

MicroLoan Program

The MicroLoan program provides small loans to start-up, newly established, or growing small businesses. Under this program, the Small Business Association (SBA) provides funds to nonprofit community-based lenders, which provide loans to eligible borrowers. Applications are submitted to the local intermediary and all credit decisions are made on the local level. For more information, visit the MicroLoan Program.
