Celebrating Our Armed Forces

Celebrating Our Armed Forces
Celebrating Our Armed Forces

May is National Military Appreciation Month, a time to recognize and honor all military personnel past and present. From active duty, to Guard and Reserve members, veterans, and their families, we appreciate our armed services and their commitment to our country.

Benefits.gov offers information on a variety of benefits available for active duty, retired military personnel, and their families. We’ve included a list of resources below to help inform your search:

The Benefit Finder

The Benefit Finder is a free, easy-to-use, confidential screening tool that helps determine eligibility for over 1,000 benefits. After completing the Benefit Finder questionnaire, you will be provided with a list of government benefit programs you may be eligible to receive, as well as information on where to apply.

Military: Active Duty and Veterans

The Benefits.gov Browse by Category function allows users to search and view relevant benefit categories. The Military: Active Duty and Veterans category lists a range of available assistance options from Armed Forces Tax Benefits to Readjustment Counseling. Each benefit details page features a program description, general eligibility requirements, steps for where to apply, and program contact information.

Partner Agency Resources

The Benefits.gov Browse by Agency function features each of our partners and their benefit programs. From the Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) to the Department of Veterans Affairs' Post 9/11 GI Bill, our partners offer a variety of resources for members of the military and their families, such as housing loans, healthcare, counseling, and career assistance.

We hope these resources will help you discover benefits you may eligible for. We encourage everyone to take time this month and throughout the year to appreciate our armed forces and their service to our country.
