Program Description

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has created a free online look-up tool to help families find the correct car seat for their child. Car seats can greatly reduce the risk of dying in a crash for infants and young children. They have saved more than 10,000 lives over the past 40 years. They can help keep your child safe too. But with so many models, it is not always easy to know if you are using the right one. And as children grow, it is sometimes necessary to change car seats to keep pace. Use this look-up tool to make sure you have the right seat at the right time.

General Program Requirements

Everyone is welcome to use NHTSA's free car seat look-up tool. Also, please register your car seat with the manufacturer so you can be notified in the event of a car seat safety recall.
