Program Description

The Migrant Education Program (MEP) is authorized under Title I, Part C of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended. The MEP provides formula grants to state education agencies (SEA's) to assist all migrant students in meeting the same challenging academic standards as other children and achieving graduation from high school by designing programs that help migrant children overcome the effects of migrancy.

Application Process

SEAs are authorized to make subgrants to local operating agencies that serve migrant students. Local operating agencies may be local education agencies (LEAs), institutions of higher education (IHEs), and other public and nonprofit agencies.
