Program Description

Impact Aid's Section 8003 Formula Grant provides funding to the general fund of school districts that provide a free public education to children living on Indian Lands, military children or children living in low rent housing on federal property. The distircts apply directly to the Department of Education to receive these funds.

General Program Requirements

Federally connected children: At least 400 who are in average daily attendance (ADA) or at least three percent of the total number in the ADA.

Application Process

Typically, the application is released on Dec. 1st of each year and closes on Jan. 31st. Districts use G-5 to apply and must apply each year. During this process the districts must list the federally connected children and the connected federal property.
