The mission of the Weatherization Program of Vermont is to reduce the energy costs for low-income families, particularly for the elderly, people with disabilities, and children, by improving the energy efficiency and comfort of their homes while ensuring their health and safety. The program is administered by the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO).

To be eligible for this benefit program, you must be a resident of Vermont. Preference may be given to:

  • People over 60 years of age
  • Families with one or more members with a disability
  • Families with children (in most states)

In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

*For households with more than eight people, add $11,051 per additional person. Always check with the appropriate managing agency to ensure the most accurate guidelines.

Under DOE guidelines, you are automatically eligible to receive weatherization assistance if you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).
