To be eligible for this benefit program, you must a resident of Maryland and meet all of the following:

  • Unemployed, and
  • Worked in Maryland during the past 12 months (this period may be longer in some cases), and
  • Earned a minimum amount of wages determined by Maryland guidelines, and
  • Actively seeking work each week you are collecting benefits.


In order to establish your unemployment insurance claim online, please visit the Unemployment Insurance Claimant page. 

This site permits Maryland's citizens to file initial claims for Unemployment Insurance via the Internet each time they become unemployed.
