The Federal-State Unemployment Insurance Program provides unemployment benefits to eligible workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own (as determined under Colorado law, and meet other eligibility requirements of Colorado law).

  • Unemployment insurance (UI) payments (benefits) are intended to provide temporary financial assistance to unemployed workers who meet the requirements of Colorado law.
  • Colorado administers a separate unemployment insurance program within guidelines established by Federal law.

To be eligible for this benefit program, you must a resident of Colorado and meet all of the following:

  • Unemployed, and
  • Worked in Colorado during the past 12 months (this period may be longer in some cases), and
  • Earned a minimum amount of wages determined by Colorado guidelines, and
  • Actively seeking work each week you are collecting benefits.
