Oklahoma Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)


The Oklahoma Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a Federally funded program that provides financial assistance to approximately 182,000 Oklahoma low-income households each year to help them meeting the cost of home energy. Household can receive one payment per federal fiscal for main heating energy source during LIHEAP winter heating open enrollment, and for main cooling energy source during LIHEAP summer cooling open enrollment. We also provide assistance for some households that received a cut-off or a refusal to delivery addition fuel notice from the utility providers during energy crisis open enrollment period with a minimum requirement payment to prevent interruption/ restore/ establish service or fuel delivery. All LIHEAP assistances are subject to available funding by the Federal government.

To be eligible for this benefit program, you must be a resident of Oklahoma and you must need financial assistance with home energy costs.

A person who participates or has family members who participate in certain other benefit programs, such as SNAP, SSI, TANF, automatically meets the eligibility requirement.

In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

*For households with more than eight people, add $6,682 per additional person. Always check with the appropriate managing agency to ensure the most accurate guidelines.

The total value of any cash, bank accounts, stocks or bonds cannot exceed $2,000 for one person, $3,000 for two persons, and $50 for each additional person in the household.
