Program Description

The purpose of the Healthy Forests Reserve Program (HFRP) is to assist landowners, on a voluntary basis, in restoring, enhancing and protecting forestland resources on private lands through easements, 30-year contracts and 10-year cost-share agreements.

General Program Requirements

To be eligible for enrollment, land must be private land or Tribal land that will restore, enhance or measurably increase the likelihood of recovery of a threatened or endangered species and must improve biological diversity or increase carbon sequestration.

Application Process

Applications are accepted at the local level. Minimum information is required. Applicants may submit a CPA-1200 form. To locate the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) office that services your location, visit the following website:
