The Weatherization Assistance Program is the nation's largest residential energy efficiency program. Its mission is to reduce energy costs for low-income families, particularly for the elderly, people with disabilities, children, high energy users, or households with a high energy burden, by improving the energy efficiency of their homes while ensuring their health and safety.
General Program RequirementsIn order to qualify for this benefit program you must be a resident of the state of West Virginia.
If you receive Supplemental Security Income or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, you are automatically eligible to receive weatherization services.
Income verification must meet the following criteria: 1) annual gross income from all income sources must be at or below 200 percent of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Poverty Guidelines for each family size and, 2) whether the applicant has received cash assistance payments under Title IV of XVI of the Social Security Act during the preceding 12 months.
