Program Description
New York State offers Child Health Plus as a health insurance plan for kids. Depending on your family's income, your child may be eligible to join either Child Health Plus A (formerly Children's Medicaid) or Child Health Plus B. Both Child Heath Plus A and B are available through dozens of providers throughout the state. Enrolling in Child Health Plus is easy.
General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of New York, under 19 years of age or be a primary care giver with a children under the age of 19 or be pregnant, not covered by health insurance (including Medicaid), a US national, citizen, legal alien, or permanent resident, and you must have an annual household income before taxes of less than $43,320 if two people live in the household; $58,284 if three people live in the household; $73,248 if four people live in the household; $88,200 if five people live in the household; $103,164 if six people live in the household; $118,128 if seven people live in the household; $133,080 if eight people live in the household; and $148,044 if more than eight people live in the household. For larger households, add $14,964 for each additional person in the home. Depending on your income level, you may have to pay a premium for coverage.
