Arizona Medical Assistance Program
Program Description
The Medicaid Program provides medical benefits to low income people who have no medical insurance or have inadequate medical insurance. The Federal government establishes general guidelines for the administration of Medicaid benefits.The Arizona Medical Assistance Program provides medical services that are approved by Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS).
General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the state of Arizona, a U.S. national, citizen or permanent resident in need of health care/insurance assistance, whose financial situation would be characterized as low income or very low income.Arizona Medicaid programs provide coverage for state residents who meet the general program requirements and meet income requirements. However, enrollment for childless adults who are not aged (65+), blind or disabled is frozen as of July 8, 2011. Medicaid programs for children, pregnant women, and the aged, blind or disabled are not affected by the enrollment freeze.
